Weather Check
Before heading out anywhere, one must check the weather of the place, especially in the rains. Even prior to deciding on a location, be sure to know what kind of weather you will be travelling in. Plan and pack your monsoon wear along, including your wind-cheater and shorts. This will save from unpleasant surprises. Pro tip: if you are planning to go trekking, also check the fauna you might encounter.
Bug Spray
Talking about animals, always keep a can of bug spray or a tube of bug repellent handy. With monsoon, come a host of creepy-crawlies, especially mosquitoes. Be sure to protect yourself from those nasty bites.
First Aid Kit
This should be a prerequisite for any travel plans. In monsoon especially, you need to be prepared for all kinds of wounds, bruises or infection. An important part of your kit should be disinfectant and anti-fungal cream.
Bottled Water
It’s imperative that you avoid outside water wherever you are travelling. As a rule, always consume your own personal supply of water because the monsoon brings in a lot of diseases that easily infect us through water and food. Pick up a filtering water-bottle for extra protection.
Bag for Your Bag
You will need a good bag to keep all your clothes and essentials, as you definitely don’t want your belongings to get wet. A good idea would be to place all your belongings in a plastic bag and then inside your travel bag. Also wrap your travel bag in a plastic bag that covers the outside. This method will ensure that your stuff remains intact and the rain doesn’t ruin your bag as well.
